Terrarium Overview

Book Overview: Welcome

“Terrarium,” is written by Scott Russel Sanders, a distinguished award winning author of environmentally focused books. This book calls upon the reader’s imagination to picture what life would be like for humans on an Earth that is no longer habitable. “Terrarium” is a story set in the future, where a dystopian society is forced to live within a network of domed cities known as the Enclosure. It also calls upon the reader to question whether or not humans or the Earth would be better off if humans were trapped inside their pristinely constructed, domed cities with no connection to the rest of the biological world. Since the biosphere is destroyed from human carelessness, health patrollers keep the humans inside the Enclosure while simultaneously keeping mutants and pollution outside Enclosure. Nevertheless, a group of rebels led by Teeg Passio is committed to escaping to the utopian wilderness just outside the Enclosure’s walls. Enticed by her demeanor and looks, Phoenix Marshall seeks to join Teeg and her group on their venture outside the Enclosure. Teeg’s ability to travel outside the Enclosure as a maintenance worker gives her and her group the perfect cover to escape. However, they soon discover that the world outside is not everything that they thought it would be. Facing hardships, they never would have inside the security and safety of the Enclosure, the group is required to adapt the way that they know. The exact way that they wanted so badly to escape from.
